Demand for high-end customized bottles is booming. A 500ml premium bottle is priced between RMB 50 and 100. Orders for Chinese-style motifs, micro-carving, dual-color glazing and translucent embossing have surged. Driven by consumers aged 25 to 35, small-batch quick customization (minimum order: 50,000 pieces, delivery cycle: 15–25 days) saw manufacturers’ orders jump 22% year-on-year.

Reusable wine bottles rolled out overseas 

Europe’s Vetropack launched refillable olive-green wine bottles. A centralized recycling pool has been established in Austria, cutting carbon emissions across the whole supply chain by 90%. European and American brands have started scaling back purchases of single-use glass bottles.

Shifts in Foreign Trade Landscape

Top three export destinations remain Southeast Asia (34.1%), the EU (28.7%) and the Middle East (19.3%). Following the revocation of export tax rebates, low-priced plain bottle orders have partially shifted to local glass factories in Vietnam and Turkey.

Breakthrough strategiesMost manufacturers have phased out low-margin bulk plain bottles. Instead, they supply full-package solutions with frosted coating, electroplating, hot stamping and magnetic alloy caps, offsetting tax burdens via value-added craftsmanship. Thick-walled bottles for premium fragrances and olive oil in the Middle East and Latin America still deliver decent profit margins.

Recycled glass packaging has gained growing recognition abroad. EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) pressures overseas brands to prioritize glass bottles with high recycled glass content, which command an extra premium of 3%–6% for export.

Short-term Market Outlook (June–August)

Domestic demand from baijiu and condiments will sustain production capacity. Summer peaks for beverages and fragrances will fuel abundant orders for deep-processed customized products.

Overseas competition for standard plain bottles remains fierce. Gas conversion renovations for float glass facilities in Hubei starting in August may slightly lift overall raw material costs for glass, leading to modest price hikes.

Recyclable glass, high-borosilicate specialty bottles and recycled-material packaging stand as definite high-growth segments for the whole year.
